A busy summer!

Well, I've been meaning to update the blog for a while, but something keeps me from doing it...Oh yeah, Baby JACK!

I just can't seem to tear myself away from him long enough to do a blog post about him!  He's napping now sooooo here's what's been happening for the past 3 months...

Jack is finally here!!!
I went into labor on May 8th, Mother's Day!  Jeremy was a great support and my mom was at my house waiting for Jack's arrival. Jeremy and I left for the hospital around 1 in the morning. We got checked in and I was 5 cm! Time for the epidural!!!!!! I got to about 9 cm, but the doctor thought that I would need a C-section since I had been at 9 for quite a few hours and the baby wasn't moving down. So, at 1:21pm on May 9th, Jack was born! He weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces and was 18cm long. What a day!

We had many visitors in the next few weeks...

My mom (aka Grandma) was already here for Jack's big arrival, my dad and Candace came up shortly after he was born. My teacher friends Kerry, Rachael, Kelly, and Jennifer came to see Jack (ok, and I guess me too!) at the hospital.

Jeremy's family came up a couple of weeks after he was born for Memorial Day weekend.  His mom (aka Nana) offered to babysit so we could go out to dinner with Ryan and Heidi.  It was our first time leaving him and it went really well (all 2 hours of it!).

Quite a few friends came to the house to get there first face-to-face visit with Jack, and lucky for us, they brought food!  We were so thankful for the meals and the sweet gifts from everyone!  Our family is very blessed and our little baby boy is VERY loved!

I've been going to the postpartum lunch at the hospital every Tuesday since he was 2 weeks old.  I've missed a few, but I really look forward to getting out of the house with Jack and talking with the other new moms and seeing their babies.  It's so nice to be around people going through exactly what you're going through.  I'm sad that next week will be my last lunch because I'll be going back to work!

Jack has changed in so many ways already! One thing that has stayed the same is that he's completely adorable! He is just the best thing ever!!

Here's a slideshow of just 50 of the thousands of pictures we've taken of Jack...Enjoy!!!

Jack's Room!

We finally finished decorating Jack's room!

I am known to be a bit of a procrastinator, so it took me a while to do all of the finishing touches.  Jeremy and I have had all of the furniture ready to go for a while, and then Candace and I rearranged the room when she came up to celebrate at my Gainesville baby shower.  My mom, Jeremy, and I just finished up all of the wall decorating- putting up shelves, pictures, and adorable turtle wall decals.  I didn't want to post pics until it was all done

So here's the finished product....

We can't wait to bring Jack home and show him his awesome room! :)

Due Date!!!

It's here!

The day we've been counting down to for the past 40 weeks, for 9+ months....

The day has arrived.........but the baby has not.

40 weeks!
39 weeks
Does the belly look any bigger? lower?   Also, notice the new patio we added in the backyard!

At the doctor today, we discussed plans in case Jack likes staying inside my belly a little TOO much.  I have another appointment on Monday, where they'll do an ultrasound.  If everything looks ok then we'll schedule an induction for later next week!  The doctor and I are hopeful that Jack will be cooperative and just decide to come on his own before then.

In the meantime, Grandma-to-be (aka my mom) is coming tomorrow!  Hopefully Jack doesn't make her wait around with me for too much longer.  I might go a little crazy just waiting around and I want Grandma to be able to spend lots of time with Jack! :)

Don't worry, we'll let you know when Baby Jack is on his way!

Pregnancy Photos Slideshow

I compiled photos that I've taken as my pregnancy has progressed.  I've loved (almost) every minute of being pregnant with Jack and wanted to be able to look back on how he grew in my belly.  Enjoy...

Baby Shower

Last weekend was my baby shower in Coral Springs.  My Mom, sisters, and BFF's Melissa and Jyll planned a great party!   The shower was at Melissa's beautiful house.  I wish I had more pictures of all the details.  The decorations outside were one of my favorite parts, which included a clothesline of baby items hanging by the pool and were also part of my gift from Jyll and Meliss.  So cute!! I got a TON of gifts and everyone was so generous and excited to shower our new baby with presents.  The car was PACKED to the max for the ride back to Gainesville.  Thanks everyone!

Here are just a few pics from the day:

Maternity Photo Shoot

Here are the pictures from the photo shoot we did the day after the baby shower.  Jeremy, Candace, and I went to Kris' house and used the beautiful scenery of her backyard to take some fun pictures to announce Baby Thoms' name!  Candace did a great job as an amateur photographer!

Here it is officially: Jack Robert Thoms!

We decided on the name Jack because we both liked it.  It's also a nickname for John, which is my Grandpa's first name.  Then, since he was going to have the same first and last initals as his daddy, we decided to go with "R" for the middle initial, and decided on Robert for the middle name, since Robert is Jeremy's middle name, as well as his Grandfather's first name.  So there's a little bit of tradition all wrapped up in Jack's full name.

Enjoy the pics!

Stage 2: paint!

Jeremy spent the weekend painting the bottom half of the baby's room dark blue ("cobalt glaze").  It's not a very good picture, but you can definitely tell it's darker than the periwinkle color from before.  It took 4-5 coats! What a hard working daddy!  We also felt one of Baby's hardest kicks yet this week! Way to go little guy!

Here I am at 25 weeks....the belly is growing!

I also started taking a prenatal yoga class at the Women's Center gym this week.  Here's the "tree pose" I learned that night.  I'm also starting to go to an aquatic class at the main gym pool called "Mother's in Motion".  Here'a a pic of my new maternity swimsuit (from the website, not gonna post a pic of me in it!)

We also just ordered this glider/ottoman for the room.  We're gonna have a comfy place for all those late-night feedings! :)

Getting Baby's Room Ready!

So we've started stage 1 of getting the baby's room ready...

We, meaning Jeremy, took the twin bed out of the baby's room and moved it into the office and we got a new (smaller) desk in the office.  Then Jeremy put together the crib (thank you Linda!) and the dresser.  I ordered a blanket from the bedding collection that we registered for so that I could picture it in the room.
Here are a few pictures so far...

Up Next, Stage 2: We're going to paint the bottom half of the room dark blue, so it will look like water and sky to go with the turtle theme.

Here's a picture of the Turtle Reef bedroom stuff that we want in the room...so cute!!

New Year's Eve

We celebrated with friends at dinner at The Great Outdoors Restaurant.

I spent New Year's Day relaxing, reading a book, and updating our baby registries online.  Jeremy had friends over to watch football all day.  Pretty perfect start to the new year!
